Andrew Chen

M.S. CS Student @University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Me, shot in November 2023

I am an M.S. student in Computer Science at UIUC, advised by Prof. Sarah Sterman. My interests lie in Human-Computer Interaction, with a focus on making design processes smoother with more accessible and easy-to-use creativity-supporting tools. I am also particularly interested in physical/spatial computing and design engineering, which I have actively pursued by collaborating with designers on various projects in product design and immersive experiences (AR/VR/XR).

I graduated from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology with double Bachelors of Science degrees in both Computer Science & Information Engineering (Supervised by Prof. Yu-Chi Lai) and Electrical Engineering (Under Prof. Teng-Yi Huang). The dissertation for my CSIE degree is on auto-generation and design of physics-based animations, while the graduation project for my EE degree concerns computer vision applications for sporting events. After graduation, I am fortunate to have worked with Kaiyuan Lin at National Taiwan Normal University on further topics in HCI. I am also affiliated with Kohaku, a spinout on service design and engineering which originated from my NTNU days.

Here is my CV and my project portfolio. Feel free to scroll around! :)
